Dr. Achim Cristina Mihaela, Scientific Researcher II, the 3rd prize at the “Young Researchers in Science and Engineering” 2018

Dr. Achim Cristina Mihaela, Scientific Researcher II at INFLPR, won the 3rd prize at the 4th edition of the “Young Researchers in Science and Engineering” (Tineri Cercetatori in Stiinta si Inginerie), organised by Prof. Rada Mihalcea together with the Cluj-Napoca Town Hall.
Dr. Cristina ACHIM holds a PhD in physics from 2011 obtained at the University of Bucharest, Faculty of Physics. Currently work as scientific researcher 2nd degree at the Department of Lasers, National Institute for Laser Plasma and Radiation Physics, Optics and Lasers in Life Sciences, Environment and Manufacturing Group and participates in a large number of research projects, being the scientific responsible/coordinator of more projects in the last years, involving the development of infrared laser-based trace gas detection systems, photonic products and their applications in Life Sciences, including application of laser spectroscopy technique for the detection of volatile organic compounds produced by plants, fruits and human breath.
Her expertise includes also setting up trials for testing and demonstration of optically based system for detection of various gaseous molecules in both laboratory and other conditions (e.g. environmental, biology, medicine). Her recent research interests mainly focus on laser applications in medicine & biology, photocatalysis, the interaction between microwave field and matter and plasma physics.
